Ocala Adventure with J

Saturday, August 9th

Sometimes you just need to get out of town, to escape for you daily norm.  On these days, J and I like to either visit an amusement park or explore a local city.  For this adventure, J and I chose to explore Ocala, Florida.

First, we visited the Ocala Walmart Super-center in hopes of finding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tee-shirts.  Our local Walmart and Target were completely sold out.  I was able to find one in my size however, they had an even smaller selection for men.  I hope to purchase a TMNT shirt for J in time for Christmas.

After shopping, J found a Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, one of my favorite restaurants.  The bread and atmosphere help the restaurant stand apart and we each enjoyed our favorite sandwiches.

We planned to see TMNT at the IMAX theater however, only Gardians of the Galaxy was showing in IMAX.  So we chose a non-3D showtime to save money and decided to head to Barns and Noble in the meantime.  Shortly after our local Barns and Noble closed, I was given a gift card so J and I decided to spend it before the movie.  J and I each picked out some Pop Vinyl characters to decorate our living room.  The day before, J bought me an Elsa Pop Vinyl from Hot Topic, so he purchased three figures (TMNT Leonardo, Game of Thrones Ned Stark, and Game of Thrones Tyrion Lannister) and I bought two (Frozen Sven and TMNT Michelangelo).

Then it was finally time for the movie.  We arrived at the theater about 10 minutes early and discovered a long line.  We waited for 10 minutes and just as the movie was starting, we were still near the back of the line.  So we hopped back in our car and headed home.  We saw the movie at our local movie theater and both of us loved it!  I highly recommend it!

Puppy Love

Wednesday, July 6th

For those of you who do not know, I am a huge animal lover!  So when my friend adopted an eleven-week-old puppy, I was more than excited to meet her.  Lulu is an adorable ball of energy that loves meeting new people, giving kisses, and exploring.

One Last Magical Day

Saturday, July 26th

Since my summer break began, my dad and I have traveled to Walt Disney World at least once a week.  Sadly it is time for me to return to work so we decided to end our summer fun at the happiest place on Earth, the Magic Kingdom.

I started the day with a Mickey Ice Cream cone from the Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street.  I was excited to find that the park was not very crowed and the weather was amazing.
One of my favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom is Tom Sawyer Island.  The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of my favorite books and in middle school I played Mary Sawyer (Tom's older sister) in a school musical.
The island is often less crowded than other part of the park and is a great place to sit back and relax.  My dad and I enjoyed exploring the caves and shooting riffles at the Thunder Mountain train.
We left the island in time to use our fastpasses for the Haunted Mansion.  We were almost at the end of the ride when we stopped for what we assumed to be a short while.  After about 10 minutes, they turned on the lights and informed us that cast members would arrive shortly to help us exit the ride.  My dad and I have never experienced anything like this at Disney and we were thrilled.  Above is a picture of me and our ghost friends after they turned on the lights.
My dad and I took a quick selfie before we were directed to the exit.  Instead of leaving through a secret passage, we walked through the rest of the ride. I was surprised at how much detail Disney added to places most guest couldn't even see!
At the end of the ride we were handed free fastpasses.  Dad and I headed straight to Pirates of the Caribbean only to find out that they had closed that ride as well!  Lucky it reopened a few hours and we were able to ride it with a very sweet off-duty cast member.
Even though this is not the best picture, we were able to witness a beautiful sunset that would be our last at Disney for at least a month.  After visiting the parks once a week for about six weeks, that seems like an eternity!

A Date with Myself

Saturday, July 19th

For the first time, I took myself on a date.  My husband had a busy week and requested some alone time so  I decoded to do something fun, all by myself.  I enjoy spending time alone at home however, I have not done many things outside of my home alone.  The idea of taking myself on a date made me nervous and I knew it would take me out of my comfort zone.  Nonetheless, I jumped into my car and went on an adventure.

First, I went to our local second-run theater to see Rio 2.  At first, it was weird to sit alone in a movie theater surrounded by families.  However, once the movie started, I barely noticed that I did not have company and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  I even bought myself a box of Raisinets and enjoyed not having to share!

After, I went to Sephora in hopes of learning better ways to apply my makeup.  Because I am new to makeup, I knew that a hands-on learning experience would be the best thing for me.  The wonderful staff at my store taught me how to apply eye liner and concealer in addition to a new way to put on mascara.  They gave me several samples of makeup and skincare and I purchased the Gifted™ Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara from Tarte.

Have you ever taken yourself on a date?  If so, what adventures have you enjoyed alone?
